Michael K. Rogers started working at National Geographic Television in 2004. He worked at the Headquarters in Washington DC for four years providing him with numerous opportunites in many areas of The Natural Hisotry Unit of National Geographic Television. Most notably he was Associate Producer for two installments of the award winning series, Hunter and Hunted.
Many of the films Mike has worked on have been filmed in internatinal locations. Both the Hunter and Hunted productions he worked for were shot on location in Africa; Lions in Tanzania and Baboons in South Africa. His third trip to Africa with National Geographic was for National Geographic's new special titled "Children from the Nile". During this trip, the crew traveled to three African countries following the Nile, both Blue and White, filming the children who lived near it.
He has been very fortunate to have worked with many of the best Producers, Directors and Shooters at National Geographic TV. Working with Jeff Morales (producer at National Geographic - Planet Carnivoer: Bears) and Mark Emre (Director of Photography - Seasons of the Moose) gave Mike the opportunity to travel to Alaska to film Grizzly Bears and Moose respectively. Halo Bay was as pristine as it was when Werner Herzog released his film in 2005, and the Moose reserve, perched atop one of the thousands of summer islands found outside of Anchorage, currently stand as his two most rewarding Natural History gigs.
Mike has since left Washington DC and continues to work as freelance for Nat Geo TV. His experiences combined with his knowledge of both the technical and the logistical component learned from National Geographic required for a successful documentary production provide Mike with the unique ability to manage the workflow of the ever changing technologies.
